In the ensuing two decades since the printing of my first book, Someone Else’s Yesterday, I have crossed paths with many others who have tales of their own, a few intertwining with mine.
One, in particular, has inspired my new book, Fire in the Soul, a fascinating and touching story that had to be told. A small boy’s passion and extraordinary knowledge for anything Fire Department related, lead a mom to me for my firefighter knowledge and background. Knowing things he could not know, I was stunned to discover the life he was relating came from a New York firefighter who perished in 9/11.

Am I doing the right thing by telling this story that may arouse feeling deep within others? I am a believer in signs and as I write this a small fire-red dragonfly landed on my writing tablet. In Native American legends, the dragonfly is a symbol of resurrection, and renewal after hardship. I took this as a sign to continue.
