Reincarnation from Antietam to Ground Zero

The Phoenix
(The Phoenix is often referred to as a fire bird, because it dies and is reborn out of fire.)
Am I doing the right thing by telling this story that may arouse feeling deep within others? I am a believer in signs and as I write this a small fire-red dragonfly landed on my writing tablet. In Native American legends, the dragonfly is a symbol of resurrection, and renewal after hardship. I took this as a sign to continue.
I spent 35 years in Fire Service and retired as an Asst. Chief in 2003. The mention of September 11th 2001 stirs deep feeling within me. I watched the drama unfolding on the television and when I saw the first tower crumble I cried, yes big boys do cry. I knew in that moment the Fire Department of New York had lost a large number of firefighters. I feel my words are woefully inadequate in describing what myself and others were feeling that day. Some words were swearwords while others were prayer words. 9/11 was one of those days that will loom large in the history books. Many questions remain unanswered about that day, was it preventable, what was the root cause and can we stop it from happening again to anyone? When we are given answers from the “officials” and “experts” on this event will they ring true in our ears? One thing I do know from decades of research is that history books are some of the greatest fiction ever written. Oh, there are truths in these books but many times they are subjective and skewed by the author’s point of view or clouded by which side of the outcome they want to be on. Sometimes it is just a matter of not having the whole picture. I do not claim to have the whole picture on anything. I will convey a story to you, a remarkable story, as best as I can and stay truthful in the telling. It will be a sad story but also an uplifting tale of love, struggle and a rebirth of one who was lost but returned to start anew; an honest to God Phoenix story, a new life literally arising from the ashes. It began years after 9/11 and in a unusual place, an online forum dedicated to past lives.
